Can I Connect?

Terms of Service

Effective Date: March 29, 2026

Last Updated: March 29, 2026

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Can I Connect at caniconnect.com and related domains (cic.to, caniconnect.to) (the "Service") operated by Can I Connect ("we," "us," or "our").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

Can I Connect is a connectivity checking platform that allows users to:

  • Test their browser's connectivity to publicly accessible HTTPS endpoints
  • View server-side probe data from multiple geographic regions
  • Optionally contribute anonymized connectivity data to a community dataset
  • Create and share custom endpoint lists

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to conduct denial-of-service attacks or any form of network abuse
  • Attempt to overwhelm endpoints with excessive automated requests through the Service
  • Circumvent rate limits, challenge token verification, or other protective measures
  • Use the Service to probe private, internal, or unauthorized networks
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service (except as permitted by applicable open-source licenses)
  • Use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair the Service or interfere with other users' access

3. Rate Limits and Fair Use

The Service enforces rate limits to ensure fair access for all users:

  • On-demand probes: 10 requests per minute per IP address
  • Crowdsource submissions: 100 per hour per session
  • On-demand unique URL probes: 30 unique URLs per hour per IP address

Exceeding these limits may result in temporary restrictions on your access. We reserve the right to adjust these limits at any time.

4. No Guarantee of Accuracy

The Service provides connectivity measurements on an "as-is" basis. We do not guarantee:

  • The accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any measurements
  • That the Service will be available at all times or free from errors
  • That connectivity results reflect the actual status of any third-party service
  • That server probe data represents global availability

Connectivity measurements are influenced by numerous factors including network conditions, geographic distance, CDN routing, and third-party service configurations. Results should be interpreted as approximate indicators, not definitive assessments.

5. Third-Party Services

The Service tests connectivity to third-party endpoints. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or responsible for any of these third-party services. The inclusion of any endpoint in our curated lists does not imply any relationship with its operator.

You acknowledge that:

  • Connectivity checks send real HTTPS requests to third-party services
  • Third-party services may log these requests according to their own policies
  • Third-party services may block, rate-limit, or otherwise restrict these requests
  • We are not responsible for any consequences arising from connectivity checks to third-party services

6. Crowdsourced Data

By enabling the crowdsource feature, you agree that:

  • Your anonymized connectivity data may be aggregated and displayed publicly
  • Submissions may be rejected for statistical quality reasons
  • You will not intentionally submit false or misleading data
  • We may use, display, and retain crowdsourced data as described in our Privacy Policy

7. Custom Lists

Custom URL lists are encoded in shareable URLs. You are responsible for ensuring that any URLs you add to custom lists are publicly accessible HTTPS endpoints that you are authorized to test. Do not use custom lists to probe endpoints you do not have permission to access.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service's source code is available under its applicable open-source license. The name "Can I Connect," associated branding, and curated endpoint data are the intellectual property of Byte Sized Code LLC.

User-contributed crowdsource data is anonymized and aggregated. No intellectual property rights are claimed over individual connectivity measurements.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM:

  • YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE
  • ANY THIRD-PARTY CONDUCT OR CONTENT ON THE SERVICE
  • CONNECTIVITY TEST RESULTS OR DECISIONS MADE BASED ON SUCH RESULTS
  • UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR DATA

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Can I Connect and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without notice. All provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

16. Contact
